On Tuesday, December 12th, Grades 4-8 embarked on a cultural journey to the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway. The occasion? The premiere of "Amahl and the Night Visitors" presented by the New Jersey Opera Theater.
Mr. Joseph Mayon, our former music director, treated our students to a captivating performance that unfolded the timeless story of Amahl and his encounter with the three kings on the first Christmas Eve.
Several of our fellow St. John the Apostle students participated as village folk, singing and dancing. Mr. Mayon embodied the character of King Kaspar with passion and playfulness. Sixth grader, Maya Czarnota, played violin in the orchestra. Live miniature horses on stage added a touch of enchantment to the production.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Joseph, the New Jersey Opera Theater, and all the talented individuals who brought "Amahl and the Night Visitors" to life. This 45-minute performance was the perfect introduction to the opera, and was enjoyed by all!
